Landscaping & Boundaries
Estimate fence panels, posts and optional gravel boards from boundary length, gate openings and panel width.
Scope boundary: Materials list only — it does not confirm a boundary line, post depth, stability design or planning decisions.

Measure clearly
Measure the intended fence line from end post to end post. Deduct the widths of gates or any clear section that will not take a panel, then enter the actual panel width you plan to buy.
Worked example
An 18 m boundary with a 1 m gate opening leaves 17 m. With 1.83 m panels, this needs 10 spans, 11 minimum posts and 11 panels after a 5% panel allowance.
Before you buy
Measure the intended fence run, rather than assuming a property boundary.
Deduct each gate or deliberate clear section once.
Confirm actual panel widths, post types, corner/end conditions and gravel-board lengths with the merchant.
Quick answers
A straightforward run needs an end post at both ends, so the minimum post count is the calculated number of panel spans plus one. Corners, changes in direction and gates may need additional posts.
No. This is a material-list estimate only. It does not set post depth, stability, ground conditions, boundary rights or planning decisions.
